Virtuos plans to use the new funding to expand operations and pursue a buy-and-build strategy, including expanding existing studios and acquiring complementary businesses. The company also plans to set up a new headquarters and R&D center in Singapore. Virtuos specializes in producing 3D art and providing game development services for console and mobile platforms. The company intends to use the Series B proceeds to grow its expertise in the latest game development and art techniques and to build tools that facilitate integration with client teams. The amount raised in the round was not disclosed. Led by CEO Gilles Langourieux, Virtuos operates studios and offices in Shanghai, Chengdu, Xian, Saigon, Vancouver, San Francisco, Paris and Tokyo. It employs more than 1,000 staff representing 15 nationalities. Clients include 15 of the top 20 digital entertainment companies worldwide as well as renowned independent studios.
