VirtuOz, led by CEO Steve L. Adams, provides intelligent virtual agents (IVAs) to enable online customer and technical support. The company serves large and mid-market enterprises with clients including eBay, SFR, H&R Block and L’Oreal. VirtuOz is based in Emeryville, California and operates a European office in Paris, France. It raised an additional $7m in funding from existing investors Mohr Davidow, Inventures Group and Galileo Partners. The company intends to use the funds for product development and to expand sales and marketing efforts in the U.S. and E.U. Its IVA platform is positioned to help enterprises deliver online self-service and support. VirtuOz develops intelligent "Virtual Agents"—chatbot avatars that guide users through sales, help, and support interactions. The agents run complex algorithms, can request additional customer information to build knowledge of problems, and can handle thousands of support issues simultaneously. Avatars are continuously tweaked for each client and produce regular status reports that let administrators track effectiveness. The software is deployed at major sites including PayPal, Chegg, and eBay; eBay reported 88% of support questions were resolved instantly by its VirtuOz agents, and the company says 69% of customers end conversations with a "Goodbye." VirtuOz recently closed an $11.4M Series B, providing additional capital as it expands commercial deployments amid demand for automated support.
