Overview
VisCardia is a medical-device company focused on VisONE, a synchronized diaphragmatic stimulation (SDS) system that augments cardiac output by electrically stimulating the diaphragm in time with the cardiac cycle. The extra-cardiac placement enables a laparoscopic, outpatient implant that does not interfere with breathing and is imperceptible to patients. Feasibility studies conducted outside the United States have already shown clinically meaningful gains in symptoms, functional capacity, and haemodynamic metrics for moderate-to-severe heart-failure patients who remain symptomatic on guideline-directed therapy. The company’s near-term objective is to conduct the RECOVER-HF pivotal IDE trial, a randomized, double-blinded study of roughly 270 patients, with the first U.S. implant targeted for early 2026. Successful completion of this trial will support VisCardia’s premarket approval (PMA) submission to the FDA. VisCardia recently strengthened its balance sheet with US$40 million in growth capital to fund the study and key PMA milestones. No revenue or user metrics have been disclosed to date.
