Vise

521 Broadway 3rd Floor, New York, 10012, United States

Overview

Vise offers an AI-powered platform that gives independent financial advisors the same level of data and portfolio construction capabilities as firms with in-house analyst teams. The product automates much of the portfolio-building work so advisors can focus on client relationships rather than the technical math. Vise positions its technology as empowering human advisors rather than replacing them, with an end goal of enabling financial freedom for everyone. The company has been scaling its technology, team and clientele and recently appointed Andrew Fong (formerly VP of Infrastructure Engineering at Dropbox) as CTO to lead engineering scale-up. Since its Series B, assets under management have grown 4x to $250 million and client accounts have more than doubled. Vise has raised upwards of $125 million to date and recently achieved unicorn status with a $1 billion post-money valuation following its Series C. Vise is an AI-powered investment management platform that helps independent advisory practices build and manage customized portfolios through AI-driven automation. The platform supports the full advisor-client lifecycle, including determining investment options, creating tailored portfolios to match client goals and risk, and providing talking points to guide advisors through decisions. Vise plans to use its new funding to continue building out and enhancing product functionality and to expand its team. The company has seen significant customer growth since its May 2020 Series A and recently signed clients such as Aurelien Capital Partners, Barber Financial Group, and Hexagon Capital Partners. Headcount grew from 6 to 50 over nine months with plans to reach 100 employees in the first half of 2021. Vise has also added senior hires and advisors, including two former SEC Commissioners, as it positions itself as a central technology provider for wealth managers. Vise offers a one-stop B2B platform that augments human financial advisors with AI and machine-learning tools to create personalized investment options and talking points. The product integrates workflows advisors currently run across CRMs and investment-analysis tools into a single interface and emphasizes personalization for individual clients. Founders Samir Vasavada and Runik Mehrotra position the company against roboadvisors by enabling human advisors to leverage AI for higher-touch, tailored advice. Vise targets independent wealth advisors serving clients with roughly $500,000 to $2 million in assets, a segment the founders believe is underserved by both roboadvisors and large institutional players. The team includes hires from Silicon Valley product backgrounds, AI researchers, and financial-services experts. The company debuted at TechCrunch Disrupt SF and intends to remain focused on B2B distribution. Financially, Vise announced a $14.5M Series A term sheet led by Sequoia and reports total funding to date of $16M. Vise AI automates portfolio management using AI and machine learning, analyzing clients’ investment needs to build personalized portfolios of stocks, bonds and other assets while providing portfolio intelligence and talking points for advisors. The SEC-registered investment advisor launches customer onboarding after a period of self-funding that began in 2016 and has been approved as a subadvisor by TD Ameritrade Institutional. Its initial go-to-market targets independent advisory shops that lack large analyst teams, with plans to pursue large wealth managers over time. Founders Samir Vasavada and Runik Mehrotra met as teenagers and relocated to San Francisco to scale the business. The company plans to raise a much larger round once it reaches $50 million in assets under management and to open an office in New York as part of that expansion. Vise emphasizes augmenting advisor relationships through explainable investment decisions rather than replacing human advisors.
