Visidraft is a Washington D.C.-area augmented reality startup focused on improving communication between clients and contractors in architecture and construction. Founded and led by Air Force Academy graduate and Iraq War veteran Andrew Kemendo, the company has developed a markerless AR tool for iPad and iPhone that lets users physically walk around and visualize 3D CAD designs without printed markers. The product leverages computer vision technologies similar to those used in driverless cars and robotic navigation and integrates with industry-standard CAD software. Visidraft says users can estimate costs, view design options, select materials and tools, and improve communication across the design process; early users report that the freedom of movement speeds development and increases client satisfaction. The company recently closed $250K in seed funding led by angel fund Hivers & Strivers, with early investor David Olive also involved. Hivers & Strivers targets veteran-led startups and Visidraft represents its seventh investment in that thesis.
