Overview

Visor is a crowdsourced, real-time photo request app created by entrepreneur Jason White. Users post a request—such as asking for a picture of a restaurant line or a toy store aisle—which pings nearby Visor users who can fulfill it by snapping a photo. The image appears on a map for anyone to view, giving requesters on-demand visual insight into remote locations. The service is currently free and not yet monetized, but White envisions turning it into a micro-task marketplace where businesses might pay to broadcast line conditions or even add commerce tasks like purchasing items. He refers to the concept as “Streetview 2.0,” leveraging the roughly two billion camera phones worldwide instead of costly drive-by imaging. To date, the company has raised $500,000 and previously bootstrapped the development and launch of the app. No operating metrics such as user numbers or revenue have been disclosed.
