Vitag offers a mobile app and programmable NFC tags that link to hosted instructional videos, enabling users to tap their phone to a tag to view content. The company built its own hosting service on Google Cloud to manage video creation, storage and access via unique URLs activated by tag taps. Tags can be pre-printed for verticals like restaurants or personalized by creators, and can link to video, text, photos or URLs; Vitag also supports third-party NFC tags and optional QR codes on tags. Founded in Dallas in March this year, Vitag is launching a private beta at TechCrunch Disrupt and is initially targeting the U.S. short-term rental market with plans to expand to restaurants, retail, gyms and other verticals. The company offers $2 pre-printed tags and plans additional tools such as a desktop app for small businesses and enterprise customers. Vitag has raised around $145,000 from Texas angel investors, including WP Engine co-founder Jason Cohen, and is seeking seed funding in the near future.
