Overview

Vital Metals Ltd. is progressing the Tardiff rare earths-niobium deposit, the new focal point of its Nechalacho project roughly 100 km southeast of Yellowknife. An updated January 2025 resource shows 48.6 Mt of measured and indicated material grading 1.32% TREO (640 kt) and 0.25% Nb (158 kt), plus 144.1 Mt of inferred material at 1.31% TREO (1.88 Mt) and 0.32% Nb (477 kt). The model highlights high-grade neodymium-praseodymium zones that make up about 25% of the rare earth content. A July 2025 scoping study established baseline economics and recommended a pre-feasibility study (PFS), which the company is now launching. Vital is also testing Strategic Resources’ dry field force extraction (DFFE) technology, a water- and reagent-free process aimed at lowering costs and environmental impact. Upcoming plans include the PFS, expanded metallurgical work, drone aeromagnetic surveys, and infill drilling to upgrade resources. The company previously operated Canada’s first rare earth mine at Nechalacho (North T) in 2021-22, but it was shuttered due to processing and financial challenges, reinforcing the importance of new technologies and financing.
