Viv Labs, founded by the creators of Siri, has built a natural-language AI that parses complex, multi-part queries and links third-party services to answer user requests. Its system is designed to be taught by the world and to retain memory of users and aggregate behavior so it improves over time. Viv will be open to third-party developers and aims to make it easy for developers to add new domains to its "global brain." The team plans a public beta sometime this year and is pursuing a ubiquitous distribution model rather than selling the technology to a single company. The company says its core engine is built and working, but it still must prove scalability, attract developers, and secure distribution partners. Financially, Viv recently closed a $12.5M Series B, bringing total funding to $22.5M; the round was oversubscribed and values the company at north of nine figures.
