ViViDoctor, founded in 2017 and based in Brussels, offers teleconsultations via video conference to patients and medical specialists. The company sells both a direct-to-consumer service through its own GP network and a hospital-facing service that it partners with hospitals to deploy. It launched with four hospitals and local GPs in 2017 and claims to be the market leader in Belgium. ViViDoctor charges hospitals and clinics a monthly service fee (hospitals may choose whether to charge patients) and runs a GP network charging €20 per consultation from which it takes a commission. The company positions its hospital partnerships as a way to reduce readmission rates and cut costs while maintaining patient relationships. Its launch has faced opposition from the Belgian Board of Doctors, though ViViDoctor argues teleconsultations are legal and supported by the EU.
