Launched in 2016 as a not-for-profit 501(c)(3) based in Cambridge, Mass., Vivli is building a global clinical research data-sharing platform. The platform's central feature is a powerful search engine that allows researchers to make one combined data request for multiple datasets. Once requests are approved, researchers can combine and analyze datasets within the Vivli platform using integrated statistical tools. Vivli says the recently secured funding will complete the platform's initial build and support infrastructure and operations through launch and beyond. The organization intends to expand services and to support and amplify existing data repositories by making datasets easier to find and analyze, with the goal of accelerating medical research. Vivli is a Massachusetts-based nonprofit (launched in 2017) that is developing a first-of-its-kind platform to aggregate and share clinical trial data. The platform will include a data repository, analysis tools, and a dynamic search engine to break data out of existing silos. Vivli intends to provide transparency and access to clinical research data worldwide, enabling public and private institutions to combine datasets at the individual patient level. The service aims to accelerate scientific discovery, optimize time and financial resources spent on research, and unearth new insights to improve human health. The organization frames its mission around advancing human health through data sharing while respecting contributions of clinical research participants. With philanthropic support, Vivli planned to move to launch the platform in 2018.
