Overview
VoidZero is building an open-source, high-performance toolchain to unify JavaScript development tasks (parsing, transforming, linting, formatting, packaging, minifying, testing) around a single AST, resolver, and module interop. The stack is being implemented in a compiled language for speed, maximum parallelization, and efficient plugin support, with modular components that can operate independently. The team comprises veterans and contributors from Vite, Vitest, and Oxc, and the project has seen early adoption from companies including OpenAI, Google, and Microsoft. Performance benchmarks cited include Oxc’s parser being three times faster than SWC and the Oxc resolver being 28× faster than competitors; Vite—Evan You’s prior project—has over 15 million weekly downloads. VoidZero plans to stabilize Rolldown (a new bundler) and integrate it with Vite, with an alpha Vite+Rolldown expected by year-end and 2025 work focused on Oxc’s minification and formatting. The project will remain open source while also developing an enterprise-oriented toolset for scalability and security.
