Founded in 2014 by David Hariri, Brendan Lynch and Mike Murchison, Volley operates an online community where users post requests for assistance and receive direct replies or referrals (called “volleys”) from other members. The product emerged from private beta and focuses on matching real people to problems that suit their expertise, creating a crowdsourced advice and feedback ecosystem. On the platform, helpers can either answer the query themselves or pass it along to friends better suited to respond, broadening the network effect. The company plans to use newly raised capital to grow its user base and extend the community to additional platforms beyond its current web presence. Although key operating metrics such as revenue or total users were not disclosed, the seed funding establishes its initial financial footing. To date, Volley has raised at least $500,000 in external capital, giving it resources to scale product development and community expansion efforts.
