VoltAero develops electric-hybrid aircraft and is led by CEO Jean Botti. The company raised €32m in its first Series B capital raise to fund the launch of its Cassio 330. The Cassio 330 is a five-seat model with combined electric-hybrid propulsive power of 330 kilowatts. VoltAero plans to use electric motors in an aft fuselage-mounted propulsion system to operate all-electric during taxi, takeoff, primary flight, and landing, with a hybrid range-extender that recharges batteries in flight and provides fail-safe backup. The round brought on Italy’s TESI (Tecnologie E Servizi Innovativi S.r.l.) as a partner to produce the Cassio 330 airframe and build the certification prototype at its Cicerale facility. The company targets the Cassio 330 prototype’s maiden flight in 2023.
