Overview
Vouch is a tech-enabled insurance provider that focuses on serving high-growth companies and startups. It operates an MGA brand, Corix, and offers instant quoting with access to 80+ insurance carriers. The company provides tailored brokerage and insurance products, including coverages for emerging risks and founder-friendly policies. Vouch announced a Series D first close led by Allegis Capital and says the funding will support expansion of its brokerage capabilities and development of new insurance products. Vouch signed a definitive agreement to acquire the team and book of business of StartSure, integrating StartSure's proprietary MGA programs for coworking and inventory insurance. As part of the deal, StartSure's team, including CEO Tim DiPietro, will join Vouch and StartSure clients will gain access to Vouch's broader suite of products and resources. Vouch is a San Francisco-based provider of business insurance tailored to high-growth companies. Founded in 2018 and led by CEO Sam Hodges, the company offers digital-first procurement, proprietary pricing and underwriting, and coverages that scale as clients grow. In 2023 it expanded its reinsurance panel from four to seven partners and launched AI Insurance to address nascent AI risks, as well as Vouch Horizon for scale-stage startups. Vouch has invested in its team, adding over 70 employees since 2022 and strengthening leadership with several senior hires across sales, demand generation, claims, actuarial, and underwriting. The company reports resolving hundreds of claims totaling many millions of dollars. It plans to use the new funding to expand operations, development efforts, its insurance product set, distribution channels, and its technology platform. Vouch offers a fully digital, tailored insurance platform designed specifically for startups and high-growth companies, with rapid online quoting and binding. The company provides proprietary products including work-from-anywhere coverage, broader cyber coverages, embedded insurance and expanded underwriting for early-stage to growth-market startups. Vouch said it saw a 7x increase in its customer base year over year, now protects over $5.7 billion in risk across thousands of policies and serves more than 1,600 clients. Vouch is the only startup-focused business insurer that also owns its own insurance carrier, allowing it to underwrite and back its own policies. The company declined to disclose hard revenue figures. Planned use of new capital includes investment in technical capabilities, expanding product offerings, hiring and building embedded insurance so partner customers can buy Vouch coverage directly from partner websites within 12 months. Vouch Insurance offers business insurance products tailored to startups, including Business Property, General Liability, Employment Practices Liability and Cyber Coverage, with underwriting support from Munich Re. The company works directly with clients to insure, manage, and avoid risks rather than brokering to legacy carriers. Founded by Sam Hodges and Travis Hedge, Vouch launched in Utah and Illinois in September 2019, subsequently scaled to six additional markets, and has just launched in California. The company plans to offer coverage nationwide by the end of 2020. Financially, Vouch raised a $45M Series B and has $70M in financing to date. The new capital is intended to support its national expansion. Vouch Insurance is an insurance company serving early-stage startups, based in San Francisco and Chicago. It has launched proprietary insurance products and risk-assessment tools tailored to high-growth companies, sold exclusively online at vouch.us. Its policies are backed by Munich Re and the company is authorized by regulators to sell in Utah and Illinois. Vouch is a preferred insurance provider for Silicon Valley Bank’s client base. The company plans to expand into California in the fall, reach 10 states by the end of the year, and serve customers nationwide by the end of 2020. It intends to use new funding to launch in more states, expand product offerings, and build out its team.
