Vreal is a VR-native live-streaming startup that fully re-renders games so viewers are dropped into a shared virtual world they can navigate as avatars. The product is designed from the ground up for VR rather than converting 2D streams, enabling viewers to stand beside streamers, get bird’s-eye views, and chat with other onlookers. The team is focused on making the experience pleasant for streamers and developing tools to export VR experiences to traditional services so streamers don’t have to double their work. Vreal’s pre-alpha is available for users running Vive or Rift, and the company plans to add mobile support as it prepares for a wider launch. CEO Todd Hooper said the VR streaming segment is still small today but could grow into a new gaming segment with blockbuster titles. Financially, Vreal announced an $11.7M Series A and has raised around $15M to date according to Crunchbase.
