Overview
VTEX builds e-commerce platforms, marketplaces and commerce strategies for retailers and consumer brands, helping customers standardize global and local sales channels. Its product replaces multiple vendor systems and supports use cases like retailer marketplaces, direct-to-consumer storefronts and integrated online/offline ordering. The company has built roughly 200 marketplaces for customers and powers commerce for clients including Walmart, AB InBev, Motorola, Sony, Whirlpool, Coca-Cola and Nestlé. VTEX has expanded beyond its Latin American origins into North America, EMEA and Asia and plans to continue rapid geographic growth. The business is profitable and reported revenues up 114% this year, processing $8 billion in gross merchandise volume across its platforms. VTEX says it will use the new capital to accelerate digital commerce transformation for more brands and grow in new and existing markets. VTEX offers a cloud-native, end-to-end e-commerce platform that covers front-end customer experience as well as order, inventory and customer-service management, plus analytics and integrations. Its customers include Walmart, Levi’s, Sony, L’Oréal and Motorola. The company processes roughly $2.4–2.5 billion in gross merchandise value annually across about 2,500 stores and has grown ~43% per year over the last five years. VTEX generates around $69 million in return on that volume and derives roughly 80% of its revenues from Latin America. It operates a growing payments ecosystem (122 localized payment integrations today) and has been expanding into the U.S., Europe and other international markets, including the acquisition of UniteU earlier this year. Founded in 1999, VTEX largely grew off its own balance sheet and had raised less than $13 million prior to this round.
