Overview

Vtrus develops the ABI Zero, an indoor autonomous drone and cloud-linked base station for precision inspections in warehouses and industrial facilities. The ABI Zero can conduct aerial surveys for up to 10 minutes before returning to its base for charging; the base also provides a WiFi link to stream data to Vtrus' cloud service. The platform is designed exclusively for indoor use, avoiding FAA outdoor flight restrictions, and uses SLAM to build high-fidelity maps, tracking 300,000 depth points 30 times per second. The company was founded in 2017 by Renato Salas-Moreno, Jonathan Lenoff, and Carlos Sanchez and is based near Fishermen’s Terminal in Seattle’s Interbay neighborhood. Vtrus has been demonstrating the drone in a "pilotless" pilot program and showcased the technology at TechCrunch Disrupt SF. A recent SEC filing reports a $2.9 million cash infusion that should help the company advance commercialization.
