W4 Games
Unit 4A, Long Mile Road, Avonbeg Industrial Estate, Dublin, D12 C422, Ireland
Overview
W4 Games was formed by Godot project leaders to build commercial offerings around the open source Godot game engine, including technical support, value-added services and console porting. The company aims to make Godot accessible for indie developers up to large studios and to overcome limitations that have held back commercial adoption. W4 plans additional products and services that it expects to announce at the Game Developers Conference (GDC) next March. The team of 12 is largely drawn from long-standing Godot contributors and is distributed across eight countries, while the Godot project itself claims roughly 1,500 contributors and about 10 more-permanent hires paid via community donations. W4 is headquartered in Dublin, Ireland on paper and is led by CEO Juan Linietsky, with co-founders including COO Rémi Verschelde, CTO Fabio Alessandrelli and CMO Nicola Farronato. Financially, the company has raised seed funding to support its early growth and service rollout.
