Wafr Technologies
Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada, North America
Overview
Wafr Technologies develops systems of “thermal batteries” that store cooling capacity during low-cost or low-demand periods and release it during peaks to lower water and cooling-energy use in data centers. The company claims its approach can reduce water consumption by up to 95% and cooling energy use by up to 80% versus conventional evaporative cooling, though it notes results are site-dependent. Wafr is pursuing commercialization and has signed letters of intent with international partners for AI data-center projects. The recent $100 million raise from private investors is intended to scale deployments and support commercial pilots, and the company plans to raise an additional $200 million. Wafr targets large-scale AI sites and sees the U.S. and parts of Europe, such as Germany, as priority markets. The company faces validation and scalability milestones including reliability under varying loads, regulatory acceptance, and integration with existing cooling and power infrastructures.
