Wanderu

6 Liberty Square #2410, Boston, Massachusetts, 02109, United States

Overview

Wanderu operates an online aggregator and booking portal for bus and train tickets, offering comparisons and ticket purchases from multiple ground‑travel providers. The site aggregates inventory from partners and takes a cut of ticket sales booked via its portal. Since launching beta in August 2013 the company has grown to 40 partners and covers roughly 70% of the U.S., and its catalog now includes Greyhound, Megabus, Peter Pan Bus and others. Wanderu reported passing $1 million in monthly sales and is growing at roughly 200% quarter‑over‑quarter in users and 400% quarter‑over‑quarter in sales. The team of 17 also publishes bus, train and city travel guides and plans to build its own branded product rather than license its data. Proceeds from the raise are intended to expand coverage and services, launch native mobile apps, and expand into Mexico with a focus on millennial travelers. Wanderu is a Boston-based bus and train travel search startup founded by Polina Raygorodskaya, Igor Bratnikov and Eddy Wong. Its platform helps users—particularly young executives and students—find and book inter-city buses and trains point-to-point across the U.S. Northeast. The company has partnered with 12 bus carriers, including BoltBus and Concord Coach Lines, and the service is publicly available in the Northeast with the platform covering over 80% of routes from major cities to remote college towns. Wanderu built a data system that connects directly to partners' reservation systems and standardizes schedules and pricing across sources. It recently raised a $2.45M Series A and plans to use the capital to expand coverage, scale its data systems and release new product features. In conjunction with the funding, Craig Lentzsch and Rogelio De los Santos will join the company's board.
