Overview

Washlava is a mobile-first IoT startup that provides a patent-pending, smartphone-enabled platform allowing customers to reserve and pay for laundry machines. The company has demonstrated traction in the university housing market with contracts at MIT, Syracuse, and Monmouth, and operates an app-enabled concept store in Tampa. Washlava's product creates a digital, cashless laundry ecosystem aimed at transforming the self-service laundry industry. The company recently completed a $9 million recapitalization and equity financing from Monterey Private Capital and the David A. Straz Jr. Foundation. Leadership changes accompanying the financing include Tommy Hart serving as interim CEO and CFO and Michael Wik joining as chairman, while founder Todd Belveal is stepping aside. In October 2019 Washlava closed a Series A-1 financing with LG Electronics to further support its technology and growth. Washlava operates a mobile laundry platform that lets customers reserve and pay for machines and manages the end-to-end experience for both business owners and customers. The company was founded by CEO Todd Belveal and the group behind Silvercar (now owned by Audi). Its services span multiple verticals and leverage strategic products and partnerships to offer streamlined and secure services. The platform is hosted on Amazon Web Services and processes all card transactions through Stripe (PCI Service Level Provider Level 1). Washlava is the exclusive laundry partner of CBORD, enabling students at select schools to use student ID cards to pay via the Washlava app. Shared laundry centers using the platform are deployed at Monmouth University in New Jersey, in multi-family housing in Austin, Tampa and Orlando, FL, and at a Courtyard Marriott in Orlando.
