Waterline Data Science develops Waterline Data Inventory to enable data self-service on Hadoop. The product helps users find, understand, and help govern Hadoop data. The company said it will use the $7M Series A proceeds to expand operations. The round was led by Menlo Ventures and the company is also backed by Sigma West. Founded in December 2013 and led by founder and CEO Alex Gorelik, Waterline is based in Mountain View, Calif. It was one of twelve finalists in the Startup Showcase at the Strata + Hadoop World conference in New York City.
