Waveblade is a global marine business established to develop a new product pipeline aimed at the commercial sector. It develops a submersible handheld power tool that removes fouling from boat hulls, buoys and other submerged installations using patented technology. The product allows users to strip marine foul both above and below the waterline. The tool was invented by Ayrshire-based boat entrepreneur Hugh Fisher and the company is led by newly appointed CEO Steve Smith. Waveblade raised £550k to support global expansion and to explore new applications in oil, gas and mining. Backers named in the report include Glasgow-based business syndicate Kelvin Capital and the Scottish Investment Bank, a division of Scottish Enterprise.
