Overview
Wavelogix commercializes patented Rebel concrete strength sensors invented by Purdue professor Luna Lu and licensed from Purdue’s Office of Technology Commercialization. The sensors are installed directly in formwork, log concrete maturation data, and communicate strength readings through a smartphone app so engineers know when pavement can safely handle traffic. The company says the technology eliminates reliance on large lab samples and reduces discrepancies caused by differing field conditions. Wavelogix highlights benefits including accelerated project timelines, fewer repairs, and data-driven optimization of concrete mix designs that can reduce waste and carbon footprint. In 2022 the company received a $255,996 Phase I SBIR grant from the National Science Foundation to develop the technology. Leadership says the new funding will support scaling manufacturing and nationwide deployment of the sensors.
