Saltalk operates an 8,000-square-foot virtual kitchen and an e-commerce marketplace offering more than 200 dishes prepared by restaurant chefs and home cooks. The platform provides a kitchen-onboarding path (about $30,000) and takes a 25% commission while offering chefs order management, inventory, and wholesale purchasing tools; many chefs reach break-even in about three months. On the consumer side Saltalk enables pre-ordering up to two weeks, 15-minute delivery windows, and no delivery, service, or tipping fees by using its proprietary route-planning and multi-stop routing. Approximately 100 companies use Saltalk’s service and about 25 chefs currently work out of its South Bay facility; the company reports over five-fold growth since adding consumers to its B2B business. Financially, Saltalk expects to grow roughly $2 million per month over the next year and plans to double its workforce as it scales. The company plans two new 15,000-square-foot virtual kitchens in the East Bay and the Peninsula and aims to have about 15 kitchens across Silicon Valley by the end of 2024, with broader California expansion planned in the next two to three years.
