Welcome is a city guide app that uses real-time technologies to personalize recommendations based on user preferences and contextual signals such as weather, season, traffic and place popularity. The product aggregates publisher content (Condé Nast, Lonely Planet, Eater, Culture Trip, Food & Wine and others) and enriches listings with photos, videos, directions, booking links and user tips. Users can follow publisher feeds, browse a categorized map, filter by type (food, drinks, activities, arts) and contribute tips and media, though some upload UI elements were noted as non-obvious. Before public launch Welcome grew to over 50,000 beta users across more than 350 cities, maintains a database of 6.5 million places, and offers over 300,000 curated recommendations. The company plans to expand its parsing technology to local blogs and other sites (potentially via a browser extension), ingest travel lists and notes, better integrate travel content creators, and offer paid premium guides and in‑app transactions such as ticket bookings with revenue share. The iOS app is available as a free download at launch.
