Overview

Wellbe’s core product is ConnectedCare, a digital care-management platform that provides actionable, easy-to-use information in real time throughout the patient care journey. The platform is customized for providers and supports service lines including orthopedics, bariatrics, cardiology, oncology, and other specialties. ConnectedCare serves 21 healthcare systems in 16 states and has achieved satisfaction rates exceeding 90 percent for patients and care teams. Wellbe says the automated platform enables higher performance with less work and that customers report significant clinical and operational benefits. The company will use the new funding to accelerate product innovation, expand into new markets, and continue focusing on client service and platform usability. Wellbe has been based in Madison, Wisconsin for more than a decade. Wellbe’s platform transmits videos, articles and interactive content in manageable bites as part of a patient’s care plan. Its Guided CarePaths prepares patients for upcoming procedures and recovery by informing them about each step and providing online checklists and surveys. The product aims to reduce anxiety and make patients more active participants in their care. The company recently added Methodist Dallas Medical Center as a customer, integrating its navigation service with the hospital’s surgery program, pre-admissions testing, Joint Academy class, and physical therapy. Wellbe plans to expand its platform beyond orthopedics into pain management, spinal procedures and cardiovascular conditions and to build out a national sales footprint. Financially, Wellbe raised $2.4 million in the current round and previously raised $1.4 million in 2013. Wellbe offers Guided CarePath, a web-based Patient Guidance System that gives patients a virtual way to understand and navigate joint replacement and sports medicine surgeries. The system uses education, action lists, monitoring, and communications to support patients from pre-surgery decision-making through a year after surgery. Wellbe recently debuted a Bariatric Surgery Guided CarePath at the Cleveland Clinic’s Medical Innovation Summit. The company intends to expand Guided CarePath into additional specialties, including neuro, spine, oncology, and women's health. Current customers include Butler Health System, Avera McKennan, and the University of Wisconsin hospital; Butler is using the technology on iPads in addition to the web version. Wellbe raised $1.4 million to fund product development and expansion of Guided CarePath.
