WeSmart builds a digital one-stop-shop platform to manage and optimize locally produced renewable power for energy communities, aiming to reduce grid congestion and benefit asset owners and consumers. The company targets the European market following adoption of the Clean Energy Package regulation and plans to accelerate deployment of its energy community management platform across multiple European countries. WeSmart intends to develop and improve its existing technologies and explore new ways of promoting energy communities in Europe, including collaboration with Eneco Belgium on project tools. The company is led by CEO and founder François Bordes. Financially, WeSmart announced a €2.0m seed funding round to support product development and geographic expansion. Investors in the round include Eneco Ventures, Wallonie Entreprendre, and participation from existing investors.
