West Co is developing Tangle, a mobile application that prompts users each day with the question, “What’s your intention for today?” and lets them share those goals with friends. The product is designed to help people plan with intention, record the reality of their days and identify the deeper patterns in their lives, an approach the founders hope will counter some of the negative psychological impacts attributed to mainstream social media. Tangle is currently in an invite-only beta that launched in November, and the team has indicated the product may evolve considerably before a public release. The company is led by CEO Evan Sharp, with Biz Stone also involved in leadership. No user or revenue figures have been disclosed, underscoring the pre-launch nature of the business. Financially, West Co has secured $29 million in seed funding, providing runway to refine and expand the product ahead of a broader rollout.
