Overview

Whale provides a SaaS platform that converts process and SOP documentation into training playbooks to help SMEs onboard and upskill employees. The product is positioned to reduce knowledge loss and make training part of the flow of work, and the company recently integrated AI into its offering. Whale launched in 2020 and has grown rapidly, reporting 280% year-on-year revenue growth and a five-fold increase in team size. Its customer base spans 15 countries, with the US representing over 70% of customers. The company plans to use new funding to scale the team, continue product roadmap development for SMEs and entrepreneurs, and expand further across Europe and the US. Investors describe the business as product-led with high customer engagement. Whale provides a knowledge and training platform that helps teams centralize processes, procedures, policies and tribal knowledge in one place. The product is delivered as a web platform and a web plugin that provides bite-size, context-aware training content just-in-time and within the flow of work. Whale focuses mainly on service companies with knowledge workers and on organizations that use frameworks such as EOS® or Scaling Up. The company’s mission is to replace outdated learning methods with a connected knowledge and training solution that speeds onboarding, on-the-job training and best-practice sharing. Co-founder and CEO Gary Vanbutsele previously led an IT services firm and built the product from direct operational experience. With the new funding, Whale plans to improve the product and ramp up international sales, marketing and global expansion.
