Whatifi provides a mobile, social story-hacking platform that breaks films into short segments and lets watch parties vote on key turning points to change outcomes. At decision points groups vote and can use a built-in chat when votes are not unanimous. Every choice completely changes the outcome of the story, producing dozens of plotlines, character arcs, and endings. The launch lineup includes two films, “Anatomy of a Decision” and “As Dead as it Gets,” offering a combined 80 different endings. Whatifi plans to release more films and other content later this year and has also launched Whatifi Studios, a branching-story development and production platform. The company is available on iOS and announced $10 million in funding led by Andreessen Horowitz with participation from Matrix Partners and multiple entertainment and tech leaders.
