804 Newtown Circle, Lexington, KY, 40511, United States
Overview
Wheel Video builds a collaborative short-form mobile-video platform where a user records a 1–30 second clip and other users add their own clips to create a story. The startup targeted teenagers for beta testing, returning to CEO Paul Boukadakis's alma mater, Bishop Kelley High School in Tulsa, and then expanding to several Midwestern high schools. While in stealth since May, the app grew from about 100 power users to roughly 10,000 users in about a month. The six-member team is set up in Los Angeles and has added marketing executive Lane Wood to drive growth. The company has not yet generated revenue and is focused on proving engagement to attract advertisers to build campaigns on the platform. An upgraded version of the app launches in the Apple App Store today.
