Wheelys Café builds fully organic bicycle cafés — modular coffee bikes that can be set up almost anywhere. The company sells new bikes for $5,400 plus a $199 per month subscription with a one-year tie-in and reports more than 500 Wheelys Cafés in 65 countries. It began with a single outlet in Malmö, Sweden, and previously ran a successful Indiegogo campaign and participated in Y Combinator. Wheelys discovered strong demand through crowdfunding and Indiegogo, refined its mass-production to enable faster expansion, and sells bikes to café owners worldwide. The company is launching an app to help customers find the moving cafés and to pre-order drinks. Management says the model’s low starting cost and portability make it quick and easy to set up new cafés.
