Whisper has developed a hearing-aid system that combines on-ear earpieces, a pocket-sized external 'Whisper Brain' hub, and a smartphone app. The system uses a proprietary AI-based Sound Separation Engine that learns and adjusts to different listening situations over time. Whisper sells the hardware on a three-year subscription that includes software updates, ongoing support from hearing-care professionals, loss and damage insurance, and an equipment warranty. The subscription is priced at $179 per month (introductory $139 per month for a limited time), totaling $6,444 over three years, and customers do not own the devices at the end of the term. The founding team added Dr. Robert Sweetow from UCSF to provide audiology expertise. The company has raised $35 million in its Series B and $53 million in total to build and scale the hearing-aid system.
