Wild Microbes identifies and rapidly domesticates 'wild' microbes with desirable phenotypes and engineers them using a suite of genetic tools, including recombineering. The company aims to create superior microbial production hosts to improve titers and scalability for precision fermentation products such as flavors, colors, sweeteners, enzymes, and animal-free dairy proteins. Wild Microbes is evaluating multiple market opportunities in the precision fermentation protein marketplace and offers to develop optimized strains for partners needing higher titers or faster scale-up. Founders Tim Wannier (CEO) and Ben Kramer (COO) started the company in May 2022 and the team leverages academic tools developed in Harvard's Church Lab. The company is engaged in discussions with Harvard around a patent application covering recombineering-related IP.
