Overview

Wild Zebra, cofounded in 2024 by CEO Edan Shahar and AI technologist Erik Selberg, serves students in grades 2 through 9 with an AI tutoring platform. The product uses a Socratic method to guide students toward answers, personalizes lessons around students’ interests, and builds a “learning tree” tracking mastery, gaps, and next steps. The platform analyzes tutoring conversations to flag positive behaviors like persistence and curiosity for teachers and parents. Wild Zebra says it reaches tens of thousands of students, up from about 6,000 a year earlier, and has logged hundreds of thousands of tutoring conversations. It opened a consumer offering at $48 per month per child and works with schools through E3n (formerly ERB), which provided early support and data for student starting points. A 722-student pilot evaluation run by E3n measured gains of four to eight percentage points among fifth- and sixth-graders.
