Wimdu is a community-driven marketplace for private spaces that closely mirrors Airbnb’s model. The company reports listing 10,000 apartments across more than 150 cities in under 100 days. Wimdu was created by the Samwer brothers and operates a Chinese subsidiary, Airizu. Its team expanded quickly to roughly 400 employees working from 15 offices worldwide. The rapid rollout and cloning strategy have drawn warnings from Airbnb about impostor sites. The company has just completed a major capital injection to fuel its expansion.
