Wind Mobility operates a dockless e-scooter rental service in cities across Spain, France and the U.S., and runs a dockless bicycle service called Byke in Germany. The company is developing its first proprietary scooter model purpose-built for the sharing market, with features such as longer battery range, swappable batteries, greater hill-climbing capability, and increased sturdiness. Wind has also developed a proprietary IoT communication module that improves location accuracy and enables over-the-air updates and remote controls (for example flashing lights, adjusting speed limits, and geofencing). The company says the $22 million seed investment will be used for global expansion and to further develop its e-scooter product. Wind works with local governments to address urban mobility and congestion and aims to convert car users to scooters and public transport. It positions itself as a pan‑European competitor to Bird, Lime, VOI and Tier as the shared-scooter market expands.
