Wisetack
San Francisco, California, 94107-7616, United States
Overview
Wisetack provides consumer financing for home services such as HVAC, plumbing, and pest control, allowing customers to quickly set up pay-over-time options. The company embeds financing into the software tools that home service businesses already use via simple APIs, making it easy for merchants—many of whom are small businesses—to offer point-of-sale financing. Wisetack has a rapidly growing presence in dental and elective medical care, as well as car repair, in addition to its core home-services market. Founded in 2018 in San Francisco, Wisetack is backed by Insight Partners, Greylock, Quadrille Capital, and Bain Capital Ventures. Trinity Capital has committed $25 million in growth capital to support the company’s scaling and growth initiatives. Wisetack says it will use the financing to accelerate growth and innovation in the large home services market. Wisetack embeds buy-now-pay-later financing into the software platforms used by in-person service businesses, enabling contractors like HVAC techs and plumbers to offer installment plans at the point of sale. It partners with vertical SaaS platforms such as Housecall Pro and Jobber to reach tens of thousands of home-services professionals and thousands of merchants. The company charges merchants a processing fee and charges consumers interest ranging from 0% to 29% depending on credit, and says it charges simple rather than compounded interest. In 2021 Wisetack grew its revenue and loan volume "over 10x" compared to 2020. With new capital the company plans to expand into other service verticals including auto repair, elective medical, dental, veterinary and legal services, and intends to double its 40-person team over the next year. Wisetack was founded in 2018 by Bobby Tzekin, Liz O’Donnell and Mykola Klymenko and is based in San Francisco. Wisetack provides a suite of APIs that lets software platforms embed consumer financing options into the tools thousands of in-person businesses already use. The product enables consumers to apply for loans from their own device in about a minute without impacting credit scores, then choose a payment schedule that fits their budget. Wisetack focuses on home and auto repair, partnering with platforms such as Housecall Pro, InvoiceASAP, Quik, and Mobile Tech RX to reach thousands of service providers. Loans facilitated through the platform are issued by Hatch Bank. The founding team—CEO Bobby Tzekin, CTO Kolya Klymenko, and COO Liz O’Donnell—draws on experience at PayPal and Lending Club and markets Wisetack as a faster, more seamless alternative to dated financing options. The company is backed by investors including Greylock and Bain Capital Ventures and is based in San Francisco.
