Woho

501 Massachusetts Ave, Cambridge, Massachusetts, 02139, United States

Overview

WoHo was founded by engineers and architects from MIT and Georgia Tech to rethink building construction using consistent, reusable components that can be manufactured in a factory and plugged together on site. Its components are designed to act as both structure and architectural element, offering greater flexibility than typical modular apartment blocks. A key technical focus is an improved reinforced cement intended to deliver better building quality at lower environmental cost. The company targets a range of projects from low- to high-rise buildings, with particular benefits for mid- to high-rise construction. WoHo has begun commercial traction through a partnership with LafargeHolcim and is building a demonstration project in Madrid while targeting a follow-on project in Boston next year. The team says the approach aims to lower construction costs, maximize architectural flexibility, and make projects greener.
