Overview
Womply offers a unified, browser‑based front‑office SaaS platform that delivers monitoring, analytics, online presence and reputation management, customer and revenue analytics, and easy‑to‑use marketing tools for SMBs. Since its 2011 founding and based in San Francisco, the company added more than 60,000 SMB customers in the past two years and serves tens of thousands of merchants across 400+ business verticals and nearly every U.S. zip code. Womply is also a leading provider of merchant‑focused software to the credit card processing and acquiring industry, having signed more than thirty exclusive product and distribution partnerships since 2012. Those partners together process hundreds of billions of dollars in annual credit card transactions for millions of merchants. The company raised $30 million in a growth equity financing led by Sageview Capital, bringing total investment since founding to $50 million. Womply plans to use the new capital to hire staff, expand product offerings, reach more SMB customers, and expects to announce new products and partnerships in 2017. Its stated mission is to use technology and data to grow, protect, and simplify small business. Womply’s Effortless Offers links local merchants' discounts to major credit and debit cards (Visa, MasterCard, American Express and Discover). Users typically sign up via Facebook login so Womply can personalize and locate nearby offers; customers claim deals by purchasing on their card and later receive a credit when Womply spots the transaction. The service launched in the D.C. area and plans to roll out to five additional markets by early January. Womply partners with banks and other financial partners to detect transactions and credit the difference within two days. Founders are Brandt Squires (former GM and Head of Sales at LivingSocial) and Toby Scammell; Squires previously sold BuyYourFriendADrink to LivingSocial in 2009. The company has raised nearly $1 million from Dave McClure of 500 Startups and Deebek Ventures, LLC. Womply positions itself as targeted advertising for merchants, touting 100% confidence in redemptions and plans to use its transaction-spotting to refine offers and introduce a second product in the coming weeks.
