Wonder Dynamics is building an AI-driven, cloud-based content creation platform called Wonder AI Suite to bring blockbuster-level VFX to creators of all levels. The company intends the platform for film and TV, video games, social media content, and Metaverse experiences. It plans to reveal its technology at SXSW 2022 and expects the platform to launch in 2022. The team is led by Co-Founder and CEO Nikola Todorovic and Co-Founder and President Tye Sheridan. Wonder Dynamics says it will expand its machine learning engineering and CG artist teams to accelerate product development. The company has assembled a high-profile advisory board including filmmakers and AI researchers to guide product and industry partnerships. Wonder Dynamics was conceived in 2017 by VFX engineer Nikola Todorovic and actor Tye Sheridan after they met on a film set. The company is developing an AI platform called Wallace Pro that the founders describe as taking over some of the grunt work of certain classes of VFX to speed production and post-production. The team is intentionally secretive about technical details but says the system automates the “objective” parts of CG character and digital world workflows, leaving artists to handle creative decisions. The tech has been tested at small scale and the company plans to deploy it on a feature entering production later this year. Wonder Dynamics positions the platform to reduce costs and production time across pre-production, production and post-production. Its advisory board includes film and AI veterans such as Steven Spielberg, Joe Russo, UC Berkeley/Google’s Angjoo Kanazawa and MIT’s Antonio Torralba. The company will use new funding to scale its engineering and VFX teams and further develop the product.
