Woodoo
229 Rue Saint Honoré, Paris, Île-de-France, 75001, France
Overview
Woodoo develops decarbonized, wood-based composite materials intended to replace glass, leather and steel across multiple industries. Its proprietary process removes lignin from wood, replaces it with a binding agent and fuses the result with a filling compound; after five years of R&D the company has filed for 50 patents. Woodoo has created three materials: Woodoo Slim (a translucent, touch-sensitive wood panel), a flexible animal-free leather alternative, and a lightweight structural material for construction. The company operates two industrial sites and focuses on the luxury, automotive and construction verticals, relying on fast-growing common trees such as poplars sourced near its first factory in Troyes. Woodoo has commercial traction with deals signed with LVMH, Volkswagen, Mercedes and a construction deal with Garnica, and it has self-financed to date — including significant personal investment from the founder. With the new $31M financing the company plans to scale production and double down on its existing products and industries.
