Woodstock

Tokyo, Japan

Overview

Woodstock operates woodstock.club, a social investing app that enables users to buy U.S. stocks and ETFs from ¥1,000 and share portfolios and activity via a timeline. The product targets investment‑new Gen‑Z users: about 75% of account openers are aged 39 or younger and over 70% were investment beginners. The company recently completed a full UI redesign, simplifying navigation into Portfolio, Timeline and Search tabs, and added a “matching live‑trade” feature with swipe mechanics and AI‑powered stock trivia. Woodstock says the new discovery and live‑trade matching features are designed to make investing more intuitive for novices. The team plans to accelerate its securities business, add new financial products, and expand hiring to support growth. Financially, the firm has raised capital in this latest round to fund product development and business expansion. Woodstock operates woodstock.club, an SNS-style investing app that enables users to share information with other investors while investing in U.S. stocks and ETFs. The app offers access to over 500 U.S.-listed stocks and ETFs and allows market orders from ¥1,000; limit orders are not supported and the forex rate at execution applies. Orders placed while markets are closed are accepted as reservations and are executed when markets open. U.S. market access is provided via AlpacaJapan (the Japan arm of Alpaca). Woodstock launched an invite-only closed beta in October and, after receiving regulatory approval, formally launched on the 11th. The company was founded in March 2021 by Brian Jaehun Yun, Taisuke Kawamoto and Min Ju, is based in Tokyo, and plans to prepare for expansion into the U.S. and Asia. Woodstock also raised a seed round from Coinbase Ventures, Coral Capital, Hyper, Incubate Fund and Kindred Ventures; the amount was undisclosed.
