Wordchuck develops tooling to automate translation and localization for web content, supporting over 20 languages and targeting the Ruby on Rails community. The project evolved from founder Shelly Roche’s efforts to make localization less painful for her own development work. Roche discusses plans to continue pushing internationalization of web content and expanding the automation capabilities. The company received $100K of angel funding shortly after TechCrunch Disrupt. Roche has been building the startup alone, wearing multiple hats while operating out of her 17‑year‑old, 23′ Class C RV. She has publicly discussed the challenges of being “RV Profitable” and her experience around TechCrunch Disrupt and its hackathon.
