Red e App offers a push-notification powered platform for company-wide broadcasts, group messaging and one-to-one communications that bypass traditional VPNs and email to reach field-based employees. The product targets employers with large numbers of mobile workers — healthcare, retail, restaurant staff, teachers and blue-collar workers — and supports iOS, iPad, Android and Kindle Fire. The platform encrypts data in transit and at rest and includes remote wipe capabilities to meet healthcare compliance and mobile device management needs. Red e App launched its product to market last June and reports more than 20 enterprise customers and roughly 20 downloads per day. The company has been bootstrapping since its 2011 founding and has raised just shy of $1 million in total funding to date. It plans to use new funding to scale operations, boost product development and expand sales and marketing, while pursuing a Series B shortly after this round.
