Overview

Worldcoo offers fundraising solutions for NGOs, most notably its Charity Round Up product which enables micro-donations by rounding up card payments at retail. The company has rolled out the Charity Round Up in multiple Spanish retailers and restaurants to capture everyday micro-donations. Since launching the Charity Round Up earlier in the year, Worldcoo has recorded more than 5 million donations, equivalent to over €1,300,000 raised for 70 social and environmental projects. Since its founding in 2012, Worldcoo says it has funded more than 300 projects from donors in 35 countries. The company is part of the B Corp movement and has received support from the European Commission via participation in its Horizon2020 project. Worldcoo plans to use new financing to consolidate growth and invest in innovation and technology to expand its fundraising solutions. Worldcoo provides an online charity widget that integrates with e-commerce sites to let customers donate €1 to fund social impact projects and causes. The widget routes donations to NGOs such as UNHCR, Save the Children, SOS Children’s Villages, ActionAid, Intermon Oxfam and the Jane Goodall Institute. Once an NGO receives 100% of the total collected for a project, Worldcoo receives the equivalent of 8% per euro. E-commerce partners using the widget include LetsBonus, MeQuedoUno.com, Verticom Network, Zacaris.com, Cottet, Redcoon, PcComponentes and Promofarma. Led by Sergi Figueres Moret and Aureli Bou, the company intends to use the new funds to continue expanding operations. The company had raised €3.6m in 2016 and most recently secured €2.3m in funding. Worldcoo.com is a Catalan platform that embeds a €1 donation checkbox into e-commerce payment flows to channel micro-donations to non-governmental organisations. The service combines crowdfunding and e-commerce to generate social impact and help address shortfalls in public financing for NGOs. The company was founded by Aureli Bou and Sergi Figueres. The platform aims to accelerate its business growth and scale impact by financing a targeted 50 projects for different organisations. It also seeks to be present in at least ten percent of e-commerce transactions in Spain. To support these goals the company has secured new investor backing and capital to expand operations.
