Wowzi operates a technology platform that enables brands to distribute and manage large-scale gig and influencer job offers to thousands of young people via mobile. The platform gives marketers a new advertising layer to target particular communities and quickly deploy campaigns while providing remote, short-form training so participants can disseminate brand messages. Wowzi said it wants to build partnerships with local, regional, and multinational FMCG firms, telcos, banks, creative agencies, and development institutions to expand work opportunities for youth. The company reported paying out $44,286 weekly to influencers (about $2.3M per year) and delivered over 150,000 paid engagements in 2021. Leadership plans to expand into Ghana, Nigeria, and South Africa by the end of the year and aims to scale gig job creation across the region, with a stated target of one million gig jobs in 2022.
