Xanofi
16 N Boylan Ave, Raleigh, NC, 27603, United States
Overview
Xanofi developed a manufacturing process that forms nanofibers using shear force from liquids rather than electrospinning or meltblowing. The company says its method will produce nanofibers at roughly half the cost and with about 20x higher yields; a patent is pending. Xanofi spun out of North Carolina State University after seven years of research and was founded last September. It has raised $300,000 in angel investment and currently operates a pilot machine at its Raleigh facility, with commercial manufacturing scheduled to start this summer. The company is pursuing licensing, co-development agreements, and manufacturing contracts initially in non-medical markets (water filtration, acoustics, batteries) and expects medical applications to be developed by partners due to clinical complexity and lack of in-house medical expertise.
